With the establishment of AI Armaments Ukraine LLC and the introduction of its official LinkedIn page, Artillerie Inrichtingen Armaments B.V. is taking the next step in its long-term commitment to Ukraine.

Built on Relationships Since 2022

Since the end of 2022, AIA has been involved in supporting Ukraine and understanding the developments shaping its defence and technology needs.

Throughout this period, we have listened, learned and built relationships with people and organisations connected to Ukraine’s defence and technology community. Establishing AI Armaments Ukraine LLC gives that cooperation a permanent local foundation.

Across Europe, defence investment is accelerating. NATO allies are increasing budgets, placing new orders and rebuilding capabilities at speed.

Long-term resilience, however, requires more than signing procurement contracts. It depends on having the physical infrastructure, technical knowledge, qualified workforce and industrial partnerships required to produce, test and support defence capabilities.

This is the vision behind MMC Bruineveld: a strategic defence-manufacturing campus in the Netherlands where production, testing, innovation and industrial cooperation can be brought together.

Testing Our Counter-UAS Remote Controlled Weapon Stations

AIA engineers are testing, tracking and further developing remotely controlled weapon-station configurations designed to support the detection, tracking and engagement of unmanned aerial threats.

Engineering Through Continuous Testing

Our engineering team in Tilburg is conducting ongoing tests with an AIA Counter-UAS Remote Controlled Weapon Station. The work forms part of a continuous development process focused on system integration, tracking performance and controlled weapon operation.

Counter-UAS requirements continue to develop as unmanned aerial systems become more widely available and increasingly diverse. Effective protection therefore requires an integrated approach combining detection, identification, tracking, fire control and a mission-appropriate effector.

Testing allows the complete configuration to be assessed under controlled conditions and provides the engineering data required for further system development, integration and qualification.

Artillerie Inrichtingen Armaments B.V. brought together more than 130 participants in Tilburg to accelerate innovation in dual-use technologies through collaboration, prototyping and practical testing.

Bringing European Expertise Together

From 10 to 12 April, Artillerie Inrichtingen Armaments B.V. hosted the European Defense Tech Hackathon in Tilburg, welcoming builders, mentors, operators and investors from across Europe.

Over the course of 72 hours, 15 teams worked intensively on challenges in autonomy, drone technology, communications and broader dual-use applications.

The event created an environment where multidisciplinary teams could combine technical expertise with practical experience and direct feedback.

From Ideas to Working Prototypes

A distinguishing feature of this year’s hackathon was its emphasis on practical execution. Access to real hardware, prototyping facilities and on-site testing enabled teams to develop, iterate and validate their solutions beyond conceptual design.

Artillerie Inrichtingen Armaments B.V. heeft het voormalige munitiecomplex Bruineveld verworven. De aankoop is volledig uit eigen middelen gefinancierd en markeert een concrete stap richting het herstel van Nederlandse munitieproductiecapaciteit.

Met de verwerving van Bruineveld geeft AIA concreet invulling aan haar ambitie om bij te dragen aan Nederlandse munitieproductie en de verbinding met haar industriële roots te versterken.

De oorlog in Oekraïne heeft het belang van beschikbare productiecapaciteit en betrouwbare toeleveringsketens nadrukkelijk onderstreept. Eigen industriële capaciteit is daarmee een belangrijk onderdeel van nationale veiligheid en strategische autonomie.

Met deze investering neemt AIA als private partij verantwoordelijkheid voor de verdere ontwikkeling van een locatie die kan bijdragen aan deze opgave.

Veiligheid en strategische autonomie

Een locatie met een defensiehistorie

Bruineveld kent een lange historie binnen de defensie- en munitieketen, waaronder eerdere Amerikaanse en Belgische betrokkenheid.

Deze achtergrond vormt een uitgangspunt voor de verdere ontwikkeling van de locatie. Na het doorlopen van de benodigde vergunningstrajecten en modernisering is het de ambitie om veilig en verantwoord bij te dragen aan Nederlandse en Europese munitieproductie.

Wanneer meerdere Europese lidstaten over eigen productiecapaciteit beschikken, neemt de afhankelijkheid van afzonderlijke buitenlandse leveranciers af. Versterking van Nederlandse capaciteit kan daarmee bijdragen aan de collectieve Europese veiligheid.

Inbedding in de regio

Samenwerking in Oost-Nederland

De doorontwikkeling van Bruineveld sluit aan bij de intensievere samenwerking tussen Defensie en Oost-Nederland.

AIA werkt hierbij nauw samen met de provincie Overijssel, de gemeente Hellendoorn en ontwikkelingsmaatschappij Oost NL, met aandacht voor veiligheid, ruimtelijke inpassing en maatschappelijke meerwaarde.

Verbonden met de Nederlandse defensie-industrie

op het gebied van kennisontwikkeling, validatie en ketenversterking.

Daarmee wordt het initiatief verbonden met de Nederlandse Defensie Technologische en Industriële Basis (NLDTIB).
