Controlled Airburst Effect
Programmable airburst ammunition is configured to detonate at a calculated point along its trajectory. When combined with a compatible weapon, programming interface, and fire-control system, the ammunition can produce its effect in close proximity to the intended target instead of relying exclusively on direct impact.
This controlled airburst capability can improve engagement effectiveness against small unmanned aircraft, exposed or lightly protected targets, and threats positioned behind limited cover. It can also help operators achieve the required effect with more efficient ammunition expenditure.
