Digital fire control at the mortar position

Artillerie Inrichtingen Armaments BV presents a compact digital fire-control system installed directly on compatible 60 mm mortars. It is designed to reduce alignment time, limit incorrect orientation and streamline the workflow between successive fire commands.

The tube-mounted control unit gives the crew the information and functions required to measure or enter target distance, load qualified ballistic data, calculate the fire command, orient the mortar, apply corrections and record mission information.

01

Digital orientation

Azimuth and roll displayed at the mortar.

02

Ballistic input

Programme-validated ammunition data.

03

On-mortar calculation

Fire command at the weapon position.

04

Night capable

Approved laser-pointer support.

Target-distance measurement and entry
Loading of qualified ammunition ballistic information
Fire-command calculation at the mortar position
Digital display of mortar azimuth and roll
Operator entry of firing corrections
Mission and firing-data logging
Night-use support with an approved laser pointer
Reduced mortar-alignment time
Reduced risk of incorrect weapon orientation
Shortened workflow between successive fire commands

Fire-control workflow

The operator enters the target distance and selects the validated ammunition ballistic information applicable to the mission. The system calculates the fire command locally and presents the required orientation information at the mortar.

Digital azimuth and roll indications support weapon alignment. Corrections can then be entered without leaving the mortar position, while logging functions retain the relevant mission and firing information in accordance with the configured operating procedure.

Digital azimuth and roll

The integrated display gives the crew an immediate digital indication of mortar azimuth and roll. This supports faster, more consistent orientation and reduces dependence on purely manual interpretation during emplacement and correction.

The final accuracy and repeatability of the complete mortar system remain dependent on weapon condition, sight alignment, emplacement, ammunition, ballistic data, crew procedure and environmental conditions.

Ballistic information and correction entry

Programme-approved ammunition information can be loaded into the fire-control configuration. The resulting fire command is calculated at weapon level, after which the crew can enter authorized corrections as the mission develops.

Ballistic datasets are controlled configuration items. Their preparation, validation, release and maintenance form part of the customer-specific integration and qualification programme.

Night-operation support

The system supports night use with an approved laser pointer and associated procedures. Compatible ranging and night-use accessories are selected and qualified according to the required operational configuration.

Mortar and crew integration

The system combines a protected digital control unit, mechanical tube interface and portable mission accessories. Integration is performed for a defined 60 mm mortar configuration and includes mechanical fit, sight-line alignment, power, environmental resistance and electromagnetic compatibility.

Operator and maintainer training, ballistic-data governance, range procedures and system safety are included in the programme-specific implementation plan.
