Automatic ammunition loading

The integrated loading architecture supports the handling and presentation of qualified 120 mm mortar ammunition within the turret firing cycle. Automation reduces the manual handling burden at the weapon station and supports repeatable mission execution.

The final loading arrangement, ammunition stowage, crew procedures and rate of fire are established for the contracted platform, barrel and qualified ammunition family. Compatibility is not assumed without mechanical, functional and firing qualification.

Automatic laying and fire control

The automatic barrel-laying system uses inertial-navigation information and validated fire-control data to orient the mortar for the assigned mission. A mission-oriented graphical interface supports operator control and execution of the firing sequence.

Fire-control calculations can use a NATO Armaments Ballistic Kernel implementation together with programme-validated weapon, ammunition and environmental data. Manual and automatic operating modes allow procedures to be tailored to the authorized platform configuration.

Recoil mitigation and platform integration

The integrated recoil mechanism manages firing loads within the turret architecture and supports installation on qualified tactical platforms. Vehicle integration includes structural analysis, load transfer, centre of gravity, firing sectors, power, communication, crew access and ammunition stowage.

MORTAVIS MWS-120 can also be engineered for a stationary installation. The final mounting arrangement and permissible firing envelope are established through platform-specific design and qualification.

Ballistics and muzzle-velocity measurement

Integrated muzzle-velocity measurement can provide mission-relevant feedback for the configured firing process. Final ballistic performance remains dependent on the selected rifled or smoothbore barrel, ammunition, charge system, validated ballistic data and environmental conditions.

Compatibility with individual mortar ammunition types is subject to interface analysis, ballistic-data availability, safety approval and firing qualification.

Digital mapping and command integration

Digital mapping supports mission awareness and weapon positioning, while command-and-control interfaces allow the system to exchange authorized mission, status and coordination information with the wider fire-support network.

Interface implementation is customer-specific and subject to communications, cyber-security, information-assurance and interoperability requirements.
