Job Description:
As the Ammunition Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing innovative ammunition solutions. Your affinity for the world of ammunition and explosives will guide your efforts in creating reliable products. You will navigate the dynamics of military operations while understanding the bureaucratic challenges associated with certification processes. Munitions safety will be a critical design criterion for you. Collaborating with military experts, TNO, and international AIA colleagues, you will brainstorm on enhancing reliability and effectiveness, as well as reducing costs, logistical footprints, and the long-term environmental impacts of ammunition.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Prototyping: Develop new ammunition designs and collaborate with AIA technicians to build and test prototypes.
- Military Operations Insight: Leverage your understanding of military operations to inform design decisions and enhance product effectiveness.
- Safety Standards: Ensure that munitions safety is a paramount consideration throughout the design process.
- Collaboration: Work with military experts, TNO, and international colleagues to brainstorm innovative solutions aimed at improving ammunition reliability and effectiveness.
- Cost and Environmental Impact Analysis: Evaluate ways to reduce costs and logistical footprints while considering the long-term environmental effects of ammunition.
Essential Qualifications:
- Education: Academic degree (Bachelor’s level) in Engineering, Materials Science, Defence Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent is a plus.
- Experience: Professional experience in product development, or a related field. Experience within the defence industry would be a plus.
- Language: Excellent proficiency in English is essential, while fluency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
- Security: Mandatory Dutch background check (VOG).
