We are seeking a Drone Designer who will play a pivotal role in developing military drones in collaboration with partner companies, focusing primarily on explosive payloads. Do you feel energy and passion for this mission? Then you are the one we are looking for!

Job Description:

As the Drone Designer, you will be integral to AIA’s efforts in creating military drones. AIA aims to be both a ‘smart developer’ and a ‘smart customer,’ ensuring that we have sufficient expertise in-house to evaluate third-party drones through testing and modification. You will serve as the main point of contact within AIA for all parties collaborating on drone projects, contributing significantly to the design and development process. In essence, you will be the linchpin in AIA’s drone development initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Drone Development: Collaborate with partner companies to design and develop military drones, focusing on explosive payloads.
  • Expertise Building: Develop in-house expertise to assess third-party drone technologies and capabilities, ensuring alignment with AIA’s operational needs.
  • Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison for external partners and stakeholders involved in drone projects, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Testing and Modification: Oversee the testing and modification of drones, ensuring they meet operational requirements and safety standards.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the successful execution of drone development projects.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: Academic degree (Bachelor’s level) in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Defence Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience: Preferably some (professional) experience in drone design, aerospace engineering, or a related field. Preferably experienced within the defence or military sector – although other sectors are welcome to apply. Hobbyist experience with drone (design or building) is a big plus!
  • Language: Excellent proficiency in English is essential, while fluency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
  • Security: Mandatory Dutch background check (VOG).
