Join Our Engineering Team
AI Armaments is expanding its engineering team.
We are looking for specific attitude & values to fit the culture of our growing team, with certain capabilities to enable specific development areas which we are pursuing. If there is a good fit on both sides, this should result in a matching job title & seniority which matches your profile.
Our default job offer would include a permanent, full-time (40hr/week) contract. Work will be mostly on-site in Tilburg (NL), with remote work part of the week. There may be some travel needs on an ad hoc basis, given our international industry and our affiliated firms abroad. Fluent proficiency in (technical) English is mandatory, proficiency in Dutch or Afrikaans are advantageous.
Attitude & Values
Incumbents that cannot sincerely relate to the following won’t be a good fit for our culture.
- Say what you do, do what you say
- Keep promises & commitments
- Don’t mind getting hands-on
- Proactive
- Adaptable
- Works independently for the benefit of the Team
Engineering Development Capabilities
To emphasize: we are looking to build an engineering team which can develop different products for a quickly evolving field. This means that we are looking to compose this team from capabilities, rather than throw together a selection of job titles (see below) and hope that makes a team. The following capabilities are thus not necessarily the same as the job titles: they could be, but some incumbents might meet our requirements for different (levels of) capabilities. For example, people who would describe themselves a mechatronics engineer might bring what we consider a senior capability in mechanical development and an entry level capability in electronic development.
Basic capabilities
At a basic level we expect incumbent to bring a relevant Bachelor’s degree (e.g. mechanical or electronic engineering). All engineers, regardless of seniority, should be open for input, coaching and instruction from their peers in general and their seniors in particular. For roles concerning a particular development field, we also require the following relevant experience:
- Mechanical development: Mechanical drawings for parts and assemblies, used at least one CAD package (e.g. SolidWorks or Fusion)
- Electronic development: Electronic circuit [schematic] design of small circuits (<40 components)
- Software/firmware development: C, C++, VHLD, or Verilog (at least one)
Senior level capabilities
On top of our basic capability requirements, we require those in senior roles to provide us with some of the following additional capabilities:
Job Title and Seniority Philosophy
Our philosophy on seniority is simple:
- An individual who has higher proficiency in a given skill is more senior than one who is less proficient.
- An individual who has more capability sets at a given proficiency level is more senior than one with less capability sets.
- The more senior an individual in total (combination of capability sets and proficiency levels), the higher their remuneration.
Job Titles are defined based on a combination of the individual’s experience and the company’s functions because we do not want silos nor much hierarchy. The above capabilities (“roles”) are thus combined in job titles that clarify what exactly is expected of an individual. The following job titles are all relevant (not mutually exclusive nor exhaustive):
- Mechanical Engineer
- Electronic Engineer
- Software Engineer
- Firmware Engineer
- Embedded Engineer
- Mechatronic Engineer
- Electro-Mechanical Engineer
- Systems Engineer
- Systems Architect
- Systems Lead
Your application
If our attitude & values resonate with you, and you meet all the criteria for at least one of our desired capabilities, send your resume to vacancies@ai-armaments.com.
A cover letter explaining how your experience is a fit to our desired capabilities is optional but very welcome.
