Counter UAV

Counter-UAV systems employ both Kinetec and Electronic measures to neutralize drone threats.

Kinetic systems use physical force like nets, missiles, or lasers to physically disable or destroy drones, while electronic systems disrupt drone operations through techniques like jamming, GPS spoofing, or cyber attacks. Some defense companies offer integrated systems that combine both types of countermeasures.

Kinetic Countermeasures:

  • Hard Kill: Physically destroy the drone by using force.
  • Examples: Missiles, nets, bullets, and high-energy lasers.
  • Benefits: Effective against a wide range of drones and can be used in various environments.
  • Drawbacks: Can be expensive and may cause collateral damage.

Electronic Countermeasures:

  • Soft Kill: Disrupt or disable drone operations without destroying the drone.
  • Examples: Jamming, GPS spoofing, EMP/HPM, and cyber attacks.
  • Benefits: Can be less destructive and may be more cost-effective.
  • Drawbacks: May not be effective against all drone types or in all environments.
